Katoeys Are Us is a major go go bar located just off of Walking Street in Pattaya. Walking Street is of course the most famous part of Pattaya, in spite of the hopes of tourism officials and prudes to turn the place into a family tourism destination. Walking Street is famous not because it’s next to a beach, but because it is filled with go go bars where women in various states of undress dance on stage in hope of luring in a paying customer.

Now with Katoeys Are Us in full operation, it is not just women who dance on stages along Walking Street. Thai chicks with dicks are doing it too. Katoeys Are Us isn’t located right on Walking Street, but it’s so close that it might as well be. Katoeys Are Us is located on Soi Diamond, which is just up the block from Walking Street and only a few steps from the well known Windmill go go bar.

Katoeys Are Us opened a while ago. It wasn’t the first or only ladyboy go go bar in Thailand then and it isn’t now. Places like Baby Boom have been around. But Katoeys Are Us still made waves. What’s so special about Katoeys Are Us?

Katoeys Are Us is just off of Walking Street. Katoeys Are Us is a very large bar. I mean, it’s absolutely huge by go go bar standards. When you walk in there’s a big stage in the middle of the floor then seats all around the walls of the room. On top of that there are tables and a bar toward the back.

The stage is lined with poles and the poles are worked by a lot of ladyboys. I mean a lot, seriously. It wouldn’t be anything to see maybe twenty ladyboys on stage at a given time. Most of them are really hot too. Probably half actually look like girls. They also have a few Amazons too and one or two with massively overinflated boobs, but there are plenty of ladylike ladyboys including even some who grew their own boobs. A lot of the dancers are early twenties, only a few are older.

It’s “mixed nuts” in a real way, with something sure to satisfy everyone. Yet Katoeys Are Us is a more or less quite place. It doesn’t ever seem to get packed out with customers. The one or two ladyboys posted out front aren’t aggressive about pulling in customers. Inside, the ladyboys aren’t aggressive at all! They’re up for fun and all, they just don’t get totally in your face as is the case at most ladyboy bars. There’s no pressure or begging for drinks. It’s really laid back!

It’s not so laid back that it’s dead though. The ladyboys inside are lively and fun. Most of them can speak English fairly well too. I don’t know what it is, but ladyboys working in Thai bars seem to be able to speak English a lot better than the ladies working in Thai bars. Something for a sociologist with too much grant money on his hands to study I guess.

The bar fine at Katoeys Are Us is 600 Baht. There are rooms upstairs along with numerous short time hotels nearby. Some guys also take ladyboys out of the bar and to their own rooms. Most of the ladyboys seem eager to make extra money by leaving the bar which only makes sense.

This review of Chili Ladyboy Bar in Bangkok is long overdue. Chili is not one of the better know ladyboy bars in Bangkok, but that is of no real fault of the bar itself. The place is run rather well and has a very large staff of ladyboys.

The ladyboys at Chili are friendly. There is a wide range of looks at the bar, and dancers who range from university to middle age. Simply put, Chili is the kind of bar that most ladyboy lovers would enjoy even though it is far from perfect.

Location of Chili Ladyboy Bar

Chili Ladyboy Bar is located inside of the very famous Nana Entertainment Plaza. Nana Plaza itself is located on Sukhumvit Soi 4 in the heart of lower Sukhumvit. This area is popular with foreigners and locals alike. It is packed with restaurants, shopping, entertainment and more.

Nana Plaza is very easy to find. The place is so big and well known that most people even refer to the street it located on as “Soi Nana.” The closest stop on the BTS sky train is called Nana. The BTS even plays a recorded announcement that repeats the word “Nana” when the train approaches the stop.

Once inside of Nana Plaza however, Chili is not so easy to find. It may have the most hidden location of any bar in the entire plaza. That is because it is tucked away in a back corner behind other bars. It cannot really be seen from any other part of Nana Plaza.

To access Chili Ladyboy Bar, one has to take the first staircase on the left that. At the top of that staircase one finds the post-op Straps bar to the left and the corner entrance of Chili off to the right. There are usually some ladyboys out front, but the bar is smart enough to station the stunners on the ground floor. There they hold signs reading “Chili” and escort customers up the stairs to the semi-hidden bar entrance.

Chili Bar Layout

Chili Bar is a moderate to large go go bar. It has plenty of seating all around the walls and a big stage in the middle. All of the seats give a decent view, but the best sights can be seen from the left side.

The stage is large enough to hold at least a dozen ladyboys at a time. There are usually that many on stage plus many more scattered around the bar. That is one top of the ladyboys milling around outside, and the beauties down at the bottom of the stairs.

The only downside to the layout at Chili Ladyboy Bar is the bathroom. It is small and simply not well kept. In addition, there is only one restroom in the place. So any women who go to Chili Bar have to deal with that toilet and its seat that looks to have been splattered more than a woman in a bukkake video.

There are a lot of ladyboys at Chili. There could easily be thirty ladyboys at Chili on any given night. Probably there are even more than that around. Getting an exact count would be difficult as they come and go through the bar so often.

But there are others who want as much as 3000 Baht or more, even if they provide the exact same set of services. Conclusion

Chili Ladyboy Bar is a big and active go go bar in Nana Plaza. It is perhaps a bit hampered by its obscure location, but they get around that. The gorgeous ladylike ladyboys on the ground floor are an excellent form of advertising. They help ensure that the bar always has customers.

Despite the small size of the bar there are a lot of ladyboys inside. They can usually be seen hanging out in front of the bar when there are no customers inside. When customers arrive they all rush inside and pose on the stage in hopes of scoring a lady drink for themselves.

The twelve or more ladyboys who work at DC-10 every night can be a bit on the aggressive side when new customers arrive. When a customer settles in and either picks a ladyboy to sit next to him or asserts his wish to wait and take a look at who is available, the ladyboys usually calm down.

That’s not to say that the ladyboys in DC-10 aren’t adventurous. Their bikinis are often pushed aside to gives customers a glimpse of their goods, sometimes even when not requested. Nothing too wild goes on inside however, most probably due to the long and open layout of the bar. Anytime someone pushes the curtains at the door open the entire inside of the bar is exposed to anyone standing in front of it.

The ladyboys at DC-10 are a mixed bag. A few are on the more masculine side and one or two are all natural. The majority of the ladyboys have big fake boobs and other work done which makes them look very developed and feminine. Many are post op though some still have their packages intact. That a review of Casanova has not appeared on this website until now is not an oversight. The idea was to cover some of the lesser known bars before moving on the most famous venues. Casanova is one of the original ladyboy bars in the Nana Entertainment Plaza.

Located next to the stairs on the second floor of the complex, Casanova has become known as a place that is hard to pass by. That is not necessarily due to the attractiveness of the ladyboys who work there however. Although there are some real beauties at Casanova, they tend to hang around in front of the bar. Some of the stronger and more amazonian ladyboys have been known to cling on to guys who walk by and sometimes even drag them into the bar.

Any guy with their wits and a bit of backbone can firmly yet politely move beyond this challenge, but apparently a lot of newbies and less weathered gentlemen are “coaxed” into checking out the bar. That is a shame, as the bar is not a bad place whatsoever. A good business model would be to encourage guys into the bar by means of beauty and reputation. When the staff tries to force people inside it gives off a bad vibe.

Conversely, the vibe inside of Casanova couldn’t be better! It’s a cozy go go bar with a small stage and a lot of lovely ladyboys. They can beg a bit for drinks but otherwise they aren’t too aggressive. Most are just hard workers who want to earn some money while they stand around in some of the skimpiest bikinis to be found in all of Nana Plaza.

There used to be so many ladyboys at Casanova that they couldn’t all fit into the bar. That may be where the tradition of them hanging out front came from. A while back there was a mass cut back that slashed the number of ladyboys at Casanovas, but there are still quite a few working every day of the week. The bar tends to attract some of the hottest ladyboys too. It’s no exaggeration to say that some are simply super hot chicks who happen to have dicks. Otherwise they are not only passable but gorgeous!

Despite the name, the bar is not dominated by amazonians. Ladylike ladyboys with their twig and berries still intact are much more common. Femboys, masculine ladyboys and post-ops are in the clear minority at Casanova.

The bar is filled with comfortable couch like seats, but a lot of the ladyboys don’t even bother with hanging around in them. It’s a money making operation for most, so a lot of the ladyboys come right out and inquire about short time early on. They want to get customers out of the bar and into the short time hotel upstairs.

Casanova charges a 600 Baht ($18 USD) bar fine for customers to take ladyboys out of the bar. The ladyboys at Casanova usually ask 2000 Baht ($59 USD) for a short session, which is more than the ladyboys in some other nearby bars ask for on average. That said, many ladyboys at Casanova go out with guys for 1000 Baht with regularity.

While most ladyboy lovers in Bangkok now spend their time on Sukhumvit, there is still a big ladyboy bar scene over in the Patpong part of town. The area has gained a sort of reputation as being ripe for rip offs, though honestly they are far and few between. Such shows involve street touts calling unsuspecting people in off the street to watch a sex or ping pong show. Once inside guests are told their drinks cost some huge amount of money.

The touts are few and easy to avoid however, and the rest of the two Patpong sois are filled with bars of all sorts, including many ladyboy venues. The King’s group has a lot of bars in its lineup including King’s Corner and the not well enough known King’s Castle III, which is not to be confused with the video game of the same name.

King’s Castle III has been relocated a few times, but it’s still easy to find. The bar is well marked with a big sign out front. There are usually some ladies and ladyboys hanging out front too. You read that right. Two of the three sexes are represented at King’s Castle III, which is a mixed bar.

There are probably twenty five or so gals on staff every night at King’s Castle III. Some are regular women. Some are pre-op ladyboys. A few are post-op ladyboys, though they may self identify as women if asked directly.

A few things set King’s Castle III apart from other go go bars. One is the mixed gender staff. Another is that they have customers sign off on their tab after each drink is ordered. This is to prevent confusion or argument later and it is a nice touch that is also seen in the Philippines. Finally, King’s Castle has a more laid back vibe than most other bar it competes with.

The gals at King’s Castle III are really laid back and cool. They are not in your face or demanding for drinks. There is a mamasan around who has been in the game for years, but she doesn’t come around unless you ask for her. The same goes for the waitstaff which are nice women who don’t beg or pester for tips.

At any given time there will be some women dancing on the stage against the wall in bikinis. The rest of the staff will be hanging around the bar. Most are cool to talk even if you don’t buy them a drink though obviously they are trying to make money so they do appreciate lady drinks. The prices for those are entirely reasonable and cheaper than some other go go bars around.

There is a nice mix of ladies at King’s Castle III. There are Thai ladyboys from all parts of the country and even the occasional Lao or Khmer ladyboy as well. The place has a long history of hiring university students on a part time basis too. They usually come in on the weekends, and suprisingly that is not necessarily the busiest time for the bar. Most go go bars have at least one ladyboy in the nineteen to twenty one age group but King’s Castle III has a few.

Apparently business has been down at King’s Castle III in recent years, and indeed it seems to be down across the board in Patpong. This is a bit of a shock considering how vibrant the adult entertainment scene used to be in the area, but I guess the reputation has combined with other things to put a damper on the nightlife scene there. King’s Castle III continues to be a bright spot in spite of it all, and it’s difficult to imagine that many ladyboy fans would be disappointed by the place.

Charades is one of the original ladyboy go go bars in the Nana Entertainment Complex on Sukhumvit Soi 4 in Bangkok. There are now many agogo bars for t-girl fans in Bangkok but that wasn’t always the case. There was a time when the entire place was focused on cisgender women.

Charades may be one of the older bars in the complex today but it still among the best. A lot of people probably don’t even find the bar because it is located on the top floor, but those who do are in for a treat.

The place is nicely decorated. Whoever started it put some serious thought into getting things together. Of course most people aren’t looking at the surroundings. They are looking at the thirty or so ladyboys who are hanging around the bar.

The ladyboys at Charades run the gambit from the large amazonian types completely with muscles and deep voices to some shockingly short and petite gals who might even pass as “regular women” to guys who are trained in the art of ladyboy spotting.

The trend now seems to be more a lot of ladyboys to use horomones and grow their own boobs rather than get some implants. Some of the younger ladyboys at Charades who are in the early twenties have gone this route. Of course the flamboyant babes with big fake boobs still predominate.

The bar has elevated seating that goes up like a cinema, so everyone gets a nice view of the stage. The stage itself is pretty big anyway so there’s always something to look at. There are nearly a dozen ladyboys on stage in bikinis most times while the others hang out around the bar. There is a tub in the bar for shower shows but it is not always in use.

Whenever a customer enters the available ladyboys tend to do their usual act of all jumping on or near stage and trying to get the customer’s attention. They want to be called over for a lady drink of course. There’s no obligation on the part of customers to buy lady drinks however. Seasoned vets just get their own drink and look around before deciding who they will chat up, if indeed they chat up anyone.

There’s really no reason not to talk to the gals at Charades though, since they are generally a fun and lively bunch. Some are good looking too. The prices for drinks are normal for the entertainment area and barfines are too at 700 Baht. The ladyboys ask customers for 1000 Baht or more for a short time session in one of the hotels located inside of Nana.

Charades can be a little high pressure though. Even some of the wait staff like to buzz around customers and beg for drinks or tips which is off putting. Perhaps the location perched high above the plaza leaves them hungry for custom but I think there’s more bad manners at play than anything. But since there are so many cool girls in the place, including the very hot number 55, it is still a real attraction.

There used to be a lot more ladyboys at Charades than there are now. Just a few years ago the place had more than one hundred people on staff. There was a change up though that dramatically cut the staff. So it’s not what it once was.

One of the main go go bar areas in Bangkok is Nana Plaza. At this point the place is legendary. Despite the more modern development going on very near the old building still stands. Recently a lot of work was done to renovate it. Plus bars are constantly changing. A lot of new ladyboy bars have opened in recent years that weren’t there in the past. This coincides with an increasing interest in ladyboys overall.

Straps is one of the newest bars in Nana plaza. It’s located on the second floor on its own corner. When entering Nana Plaza it is accessed by turning left, going up the first flight of stairs, then turning left again. The door is usually kept open so people can see the stage inside where four or five dancers work the poles.

Straps doesn’t say anything about ladyboys on its sign. The people inside don’t say anything about ladyboys either. It’s unique in that the women working there seem to not want to admit that they were born with penises. Since they are all post-op and have had their penises removed they say that they are simply women.

This is the dominant narrative in the politically correct world today. But most Thai people probably wouldn’t go for it even if they are accepting of the existence of ladyboys in their society. While homophobic guys go into hysterics about fear of accidentally bedding a ladyboy the reality is that nearly all Thai ladyboys will tell people that they are ladyboys when asked, at least if they work in the adult entertainment field. They don’t want to run into problems or even violence when in a private room with a guy.

At Straps the story goes that the women on stage are women and that’s that. The discerning eye however will notice that they have not always been ladies even if they are presented and accepted as such now.

Straps is a small bar. There is a stage to the left and stadium style seating to the right with a few rows of sears. Still the place is usually filled with guys. There is no question that a lot of the women at Straps are very good looking and could possibly even be the kind that would fool a guy. Any guy fooled may never even realize it in fact since the modern methods of surgery are simply amazing.

There are about fifteen ladyboys at Straps most nights. They are nearly all tall, thin, and ladylike. They usually have white skin and long black hair. Some have big fake boobs, a few have natural nubs created by hormones, and a couple are totally flat chested. They wear small bikinis but don’t go nude. Unlike other ladyboy bars they don’t usually hang out front looking for guys. They either dance on stage or sit on the seats waiting for guys to enter. When guys do enter they do the usually showing and displaying trying to get a guy to call them over for a drink. This sort of thing only really goes on in ladyboy bars. In regular girl bars the women don’t do these kinds of performances. This is one reason people think ladyboys in Thailand are aggressive. Apparently the behavior doesn’t disappear even when the things that produce testosterone do, so there must be some other source for this kind of approach.

Drink prices at Straps are normal for Nana Plaza. The bar fine price is 600 Baht. Women want 1500 to 2000 Baht ($43-58 USD) to go to one of the hotels in Nana Plaza with a guy for a short time session. Some are up for overnight sessions but others prefer to turn and burn to make more money in a single night.

It’s much cheaper to date Thai ladyboys than go to a go go bar but that offers no promises. Plus a lot of guys don’t want to be seen outside of a place like Nana Plaza with a ladyboy for whatever reason. So these kinds of go go bars are getting more and more popular. Pinocchio’s Club is a quaint little bar in the infamous Patpong section of Bangkok. Well, that’s only really true if by quaint you mean sleazy in an old school Thailand sex shop kind of way. There aren’t many places like this around any more.

Pinocchio’s Club is located just a few meters from the Star Of Light blowjob bar on Patpong Soi 2. That bar has about ten regular women on staff who blow customers inside the bar for a few hundred baht. Things aren’t necessarily that different at Pinocchio’s except that it is staffed by ladyboys.

Pinocchio’s is back from the road. It’s under a walkway so it is not so obvious. The door is well marked but there are no large flashing signs or anything like that.

There are currently four ladyboys working at Pinocchio’s. There used to be a lot more. There may be more again in the future. These things change all the time based on any number of factors.

The bar officially opens at 4 in the afternoon but things don’t really get going until 6 in the evening or even a little later. Before that, there is only one ladyboy around and she mostly uses the time to clean the place up from whatever happened the night before.

The ladyboys at Pinocchio’s sit out front of the bar waiting for customers. The only exception is when a ladyboy already has a customer inside or is going to the toilet.

When customers enter they see a small bar that is about twice as big as Star of Light. There is a fish tank and a bar with a few stools on the left side. On the right side there are a few elevated booths that look like they belong in a go go bar. At the far end of the bar there are some more booths lower down and the door that leads to the bathroom.

Prices are reasonable. Drinks for customers start at just 100 Baht ($3 USD). Lady drinks for the ladyboys aren’t much more at 160 Baht ($4.70 USD). The ladyboys don’t really push for drinks which is pretty surprising considering how aggressive ladyboys in other bars around the city can be. Of course the ladyboys at Pinocchio’s do like to have fun. Or at the very least they like to give customers fun in exchange for money.

I guess Pinocchio’s isn’t really a blowjob bar. But blowjobs certainly happen inside at times. The ladyboys at the bar prefer to do blowjobs and other stuff in the pretty large bathroom in the back, but they also do stuff right at the bar and in the booths with regularity. At certain times its like a wild party inside. Even when it’s more tame it’s not a big surprise for a male member to make an appearance. Sometimes it belongs to a customer. Sometimes it belongs to a ladyboy. Sometimes there are more than one out.

Couples even show up at times and apparently a few of the more manly looking ladyboys are happy to service both men and women if the price is right. This doesn’t happen with regularity but it does happen.

The bar fine at Pinocchio’s is 600 Baht ($17 USD). The ladyboys ask for anywhere from 1000 to 3000 Baht ($29-86 USD) to service customers. The rates depend on a number of things. Ultimately it comes down to negotiation between the parties involved.

As mentioned, there are some masculine ladyboys at the bar. At least one appears to have some stubble on her face. Others are more feminine. None are absolute stunners but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder others may disagree.
